This street's name had been originally 삼릉로 Sam-reung-ro. In 1977, It was changed into Theheran-ro('ro' means street) for the memory of Korea and Iran's friendship.
Thanks for the pictures. I have a couple of friends that are from Iran (live in the U.S.)
I just saw that Iran has censored several websites including: YouTube, New York Times, and all blogs that do not have a liscense! Several bloggers have been imprisioned!!! I am so thankful to live in a free sociiety aren't you? I hope the Iranian people get rid of the religious zealots soon!
Actually, It is not long for Korean to get their freedom. 20 years ago, Korea had been ruled by the president who retired from army for 30 years. In those times, if someone told bad thing about goverment, goverment punish him for 'national security'. It's not a joke.
But now, Koreans HAVE freedom of speech. Many things changed. ^^
interesting information. And it seems in Shanghai, no such a road named after some abroad cities, all related to China cities or towns... Before 1949, there were lots of roads named after the foreignors here.
